How To: Use a Dehydrator To Speed Up Paint Drying
by Tommy May

(Nov 19, 2008) -

Tired of waiting for that paint to dry?  Dang model car paints take forever to dry because of the type thinner used... The type that won't melt down your plastic parts.

Go to your local department store and purchase a FOOD DEYDRATOR and you can dry that paint in just a couple of hours.

Try and find one with an adjustable thermostat as below... Keep you temperature below 120 degrees... Also get one that has extra inside shelving which you'll have to cut the middle out of so there will be room to place a car body.

Here I have some small parts ready for drying... Note the mounting technique (used Xacto blades and clamps).

I've been using mine for years and couldn't live without it...

Special Note: DON'T USE ONE THAT HAS PERVEUSLY BEEN USED FOR DEYDRATING FOOD... THE FOOD GREASE AND SUGARS DO NOT MIX WELL WITH PAINTS AND VIS-VERSA.
